ONE LOVE CACAO Drink

A simple, comforting recipe that stays true to the essence of living cacao.

Enjoy it every day to nourish your body and support energy, mental clarity, focus, and well-being, among its many other benefits — before or after exercise, at work, during creative moments, while taking a gentle break, or as part of your rituals.

🌿 Ingredients (for 1 cup of 250 ml)

25 g of cacao
250 ml of hot water (not boiling)
Spices of your choice, such as cinnamon • vanilla • cardamom • chili • a pinch of salt
Agave syrup (or another natural sweetener) (optional)

✨ Preparation

On a cutting board, finely chop your cacao paste.
Meanwhile, heat the water in a kettle or saucepan. If you bring it to a boil, simply let it rest for a moment before pouring it over the cacao. The important thing is not to boil or cook the cacao together with the water, to respect its natural richness and living character as much as possible.
Add the cacao to the hot water and stir. Adjust the amount according to your needs in the moment.
You can enjoy cacao in its pure form, simply with water, or enrich it with spices and herbs chosen according to your taste, the season, your intuition, or the energy of the moment.

🌶️ For an invigorating drink — chili & ginger.

🌸 For a gentle, comforting drink — vanilla & cinnamon.

🌿 For a herbal touch — rosemary or other aromatic herbs.

And why not replace the water with a herbal infusion?

Prepare your favorite herbal tea, let it steep, then use it as a base for your cacao. A simple way to combine the benefits of herbs with those of cacao.

5.If you prefer a sweeter drink, we recommend agave syrup, as its relatively neutral flavor allows the cacao's natural aromas to shine through.

Ancient Maya Cacao Recipe

This ancient recipe was shared with Sakara in 2022 by an archaeologist friend in Uaxactun, in the heart of Guatemala’s Maya Biosphere Reserve. Analysis of residues from a ceremonial vessel discovered at the site, in a royal chamber, revealed the presence of cacao and these spices. The vessel is one of the few cacaoteras discovered to date (see image).

🌿 Ingredients (for 1 ceremonial cup)

30-35 g of cacao, depending on your preferred intensity
250 ml of hot water (not boiling)
1 teaspoon of raw honey
1 pinch of chili pepper
1 pinch of allspice (Jamaican pepper)
1 pinch of vanilla powder or a few drops of natural vanilla extract
1 pinch of annatto (achiote)
1 tablespoon of organic corn flour
1 pinch of salt

If you don't have allspice, you can substitute it with a little black pepper combined with a touch of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Iced Cacao

Cacao can also be enjoyed iced!

A simple and refreshing way to enjoy the full intensity of pure cacao, perfect for hot summer days.

🌿 Ingredients (for 1 glass of 250 ml)

25 g of cacao
100 ml of hot water (to soften and blend the cacao)
15–20 ice cubes
1 tablespoon of agave syrup (optional)

✨ Preparation

On a cutting board, finely chop your cacao paste.
Meanwhile, heat the water in a kettle or saucepan. If you bring it to a boil, let it cool for a moment before pouring it over the cacao. The important thing is not to boil or cook the cacao together with the water.
Pour the hot water over the cacao and stir well until completely incorporated. Add the agave syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink.
Place about half of the ice cubes in a shaker, pour in the still-warm cacao, and shake vigorously to cool it down and create a smooth, slightly frothy texture.
Place the remaining ice cubes in a glass, then pour the iced cacao over them.
Serve chilled.

Cacao Bliss Balls

These little bites are made without cooking, preserving the living nature of cacao. Easy to customize, they can be adapted to your taste with shredded coconut, seeds, nuts, dried fruits, or your favorite spices.

🌿 Ingredients

80 g of cacao paste, cut into small pieces
100 g of organic pitted dates
50 g of organic almonds or walnuts
2 tablespoons of organic shredded coconut
1 pinch of salt
1 pinch of cinnamon
A few drops of natural vanilla extract

✨ Preparation

Finely chop the almonds or walnuts with a knife.
Cut the dates into small pieces, then mash them with a fork until they form a paste.
Chop the cacao very finely, then add it to the dates along with the almonds or walnuts, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla. Mix and knead everything together with your hands until you obtain a smooth, workable mixture.
Roll the mixture into small balls between your hands, then coat them in shredded coconut.
Place them in the refrigerator and let them firm up before enjoying.

Iced Cacao With Red Berries

A recipe created by Griscia for a summer festival in 2024, where it was served for the first time.

🌿 Ingredients (for 1 glass of 250 ml)

25 g of cacao
100 ml of water
10–15 ice cubes
30 g of fresh or frozen red berries — raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, blueberries, blackberries…
1 tablespoon of red berry syrup
1–3 tablespoons of agave syrup, to taste

✨ Preparation

On a cutting board, finely chop your cacao paste.
Meanwhile, heat the water in a kettle or saucepan. If you bring it to a boil, let it cool for a moment before pouring it over the cacao. The important thing is not to boil or cook the cacao together with the water.
Pour the hot water over the cacao and stir well until completely incorporated. Add the agave syrup and red berry syrup.
Blend the berries separately until smooth, then strain the purée through a fine sieve to remove the small seeds.
Add the berry purée to the cacao and mix well.
Place about ten ice cubes in a shaker, pour in the mixture, and shake vigorously to chill it and create a slightly frothy texture.
Place a few ice cubes in a glass, then pour the iced cacao with red berries over them.
Serve chilled and enjoy.
